Hate Crime! Bocher Brutally Attacked!
On Friday night there were two separate racial assualts in Crown Heights. In the first, two Bochurim were attacked by 3 black youth on Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Ave. A Shmira member living at 706 Eastern Parkway heard shouts for helped and ran out to pursue the attackers, he was joined by other members of Shmira and together they chased the attackers well beyond Eastern Parkway at which point the chase ended. A short while later, one of the attackers was seen in Crown Heights. He was pursued, caught, and given a lesson not to attack anyone else. Later Friday night the Police made an arrest.
The second incident took place as a Bochur walking on Carroll Street between Kingston and Brooklyn was assualted by 5 black males. Those attackers weren't caught. The Bochur was taken to Kings County Hospital and released a short while later. Shabbos morning, detectives from Bias Crime Unit at One Police Plaza interviewed the Bochur and reported to be taking the case seriously.
